We’ve been hearing for years now about the nursing shortage in America, not just in hospitals but in home health, assisted living, skilled nursing and case mangagment.

Well folks it’s time to fess up that there is a huge shortage of great sales people in the assisted living and long term care industry.

The sales/marketing shortage = the nursing shortage.  And it’s getting worse.

The senior housing market industry provides care for Mom and Dad but we must never forget that this is a business that depends upon census.  “Heads on beds” is the term generally used by sales professionals whose main job is aim for and maintain full census of their facilities, very similar to hotels and other hospitality venues.

An excellent Community Relations Director at an assisted living property is worth his or her weight in gold and we in the field of health care staffing are keenly aware of these proverbial needles in the haystack.
