  1. I am curious as to whether you still see a critical nursing shortage nationally.

A recent academic study (http://eldercarenotebook.blogspot.com/2009/07/never-say-never.html), as well as the general feeling here in Florida suggests things might have balanced out or swung the other way, although perhaps not by region.

The study’s observations were that older nurses were staying on the job longer, or returning to work.

Do you see any sign of that, or of relief of the shortage?

  2. Hi Gertrude, thank you for your question. I have been reading many different studies and I am reading many different results with regard to the nursing shortage that this country continues to face. I do not have a definitive answer for you. I think the bigger question is whether or not we begin to see a trend of more nursing schools because that is where the real shortage is. Nursing educators are hard to find because Nursing professionals can earn so much more money practicing in the field and so without the educators, there remains a shortage of graduates.
